Xu Changming: China is expected to become the runner-up in global car sales this year

New Express News (Reporter He Jianghua) Recently, Xu Changming, director of the Economic Information Center of the National Information Center, spoke at the Anbang Financial Forum, stating that “the national car sales in 2006 was estimated to be at a level of 6.4 million-6.5 million vehicles, and it could increase by 600,000 last year. Vehicles will also increase by 600,000 vehicles or a little more this year.” This means that China’s auto sales may hit the Japanese market in 2006 and become the global sales runner-up.

In the evaluation of the automotive market last year, Xu Changming said that the development of the auto market in 2005 was relatively positive and healthy, and the overall growth rate was slightly lower than that of the previous year, but it was less obvious.

Xu Changming analyzed the growth of the car this year when he said that passenger cars may grow faster, probably to a level of 17%, and commercial vehicles may be slower. Heavier vehicles are estimated to be an adjustment year, and neither will increase nor decrease because last year. The sales volume has basically recovered to the level of 2003. In 2003, the sales volume of heavy-duty vehicles was 250,000 vehicles, which increased significantly in 2004 to reach 370,000 vehicles. It dropped from 370,000 vehicles to 250,000 vehicles last year. Afterwards, it should be normal to increase at the level of 2003. The combined growth rate of commercial vehicles may be even lower, which is mainly determined by the speed of economic development. The mainstream authoritative agencies predict that this year's economic development rate will be slightly lower than last year, which is about 8.8%, which is a drop of 0.5% from last year. This will directly affect the sales of commercial vehicles.
