ABB wins construction order for Brazil's $50 million power station

According to reports, the power and automation group ABB has received orders for the construction of a $50 million Brazilian power station.
It is understood that ABB will be responsible for the design, installation and commissioning of two new 230/69kV substations in Miramar and Tucurui, as well as the Nobres 230/138kV substation.
Oleg Aleinikov, ABB's Power Systems Manager, said: "These new substations will increase Brazil's power capacity and strengthen transmission and distribution infrastructure, which will help the growing demand for electricity for residential, industrial and commercial customers."
It is reported that ABB's work includes Umuarama's new 230/138kV substation construction and existing substation upgrades.
ABB also received an agreement from Eletrobras CHESF. In addition, it supplies air and gas insulated switchgear, high voltage transformers, medium voltage switchgear and auxiliary systems and cables.
ABB also provides supervisory control and data acquisition systems as well as automation, control and protection equipment.
It is expected that the project will be completed in 2013.
