China's self-developed formation element logging instrument completes energy spectrum measurement test

Recently, the development of a formation element logging tool has been an important breakthrough in the “Twelfth Five-Year Plan” of the China National Petroleum Logging Corporation and has made important breakthroughs. The company successfully developed a prototype of a formation element logging tool and successfully passed the energy spectrum measurement test. Whether sandstone, limestone, or dolomite model wells, the tests were successfully completed. This marked the field of formation lithology logging in China and made new progress.

It is reported that the formation element logging technology mainly uses neutrons to measure the various elements and elemental content of the rock skeleton in the formation. How do neutrons measure formation lithology and skeleton parameters? This depends on the measurement of the energy spectrum. The measured neutrons can generate trapped gamma spectroscopy and inelastic scattering gamma spectroscopy in the strata, and these spectroscopic spectra can further acquire the element type and content of the stratum rock skeleton.
