Effect of uniformity of ore particle size distribution on liquid flow in ore heap

If the ore particle size distribution in the heap is uniform, the permeability of the heap will be uniform, which is the key to the success of heap leaching production. The uniformity of the ore particle size distribution in the heap depends on two factors: the ore particle size variation and the pile-up technique. If the particle size of the ore is small, that is, the ore particle size is approximately equal, the permeability in the heap will naturally be uniform. However, in most cases, the size of the ore entering the heap varies greatly, so good building techniques and equipment are usually required. Segregation of ore should be avoided during the pile-up process - coarse or fine ore is concentrated in a certain part or area of the pile. Inferior pile-up technology often concentrates large ore on the side and bottom of the pile, while fine-grained ore and ore are concentrated in the center of the pile, resulting in uneven distribution of pores in the pile. The resistance of the liquid flow is very different everywhere, so the penetration of the immersion liquid in the heap is quite different. Production practice shows that the surface of the heap is not the same as the permeability inside the heap: in general, the permeability of the surface is lower than that in the heap, which is due to the weathering and bursting of the surface ore, the operation of human and mechanical equipment on the surface and Operation, chemical scaling on the surface layer, etc., resulting in a hard film on the surface of the heap or in its parts, when the solution is sprayed. Once there is effusion on the surface of the heap, as long as the surface layer is slightly loosened, the effusion will disappear quickly and penetrate downward. This phenomenon indicates that the permeability inside the heap is better than the permeability of the surface layer.
