LANXESS Introduces Fiberglass-Reinforced PA6 for the Electrical Industry

LANXESS is introducing several PA6 series DurethanEasyFlow and DurethanXtremeFlow with excellent flowability, with a glass fiber content of 30-60%. Currently, LANXESS is working on the electrical engineering and electronics industries to reduce losses in its production process and produce safer parts and equipment. LANXESS's technical expert RalfJantz pointed out: "We follow the dynamics of the market to expand and improve our products in a timely manner. For example, to improve the fluidity of materials used for thin-shell technology, so that the PBT series of screw plugs also have hot and humid conditions. Excellent stability, the use of high hardness thermoplastic materials instead of metal materials, the introduction of halogen-free flame retardants in line with the latest standards."
Due to the improvement of materials, the flow path is up to 80% longer than similar standard materials without any loss of mechanical properties. The use of new materials can make products thinner, lighter and more stable, and can be easily fabricated into smaller electronic parts. It can be processed at lower pressures and temperatures, the production cycle can be shortened, and maintenance costs can be reduced. Because the hole pressure and friction loss are greatly reduced. A typical application is the use of Durethan DPBKV30XF in the central cavity of the vacuum cleaner. The PA6 series has a 60% increase in flowability compared to conventional PA6 at a glass fiber content of 30%.
Good fluidity thermoplastics can be added with more quality fillers, the processing process can still be simple and the friction loss is small, which is mainly due to their higher hardness and strength, such as DurethanDPBKV60H2.0EF (PA6) and PocanDPB3160XF (PBT ). The latter has an elastic modulus of 18,500 MPa and a tensile strength of 160 MPa. This type of material is now used instead of metal shields because of its low price and low energy consumption during processing. The 45% glass-reinforced Pocan T7391 highly-filled PBT can be used as a stator and rotor for vacuum cleaner blower motors.
