[Chemical composition] The composition is relatively fixed, containing a small amount of As, Pb, Ag, Cu and Fe, and most of the elements are mechanically mixed.

[crystal structure] orthorhombic system a 0 =1.120 nm, b 0 =1.128 nm, c 0 =0.383 nm; Z=4. 

The crystal structure has a chain structure (Fig. L-12), and the chain is closely connected by S and Sb, and these chains are parallel to the c-axis. The distance between S and Sb in the chain is about 0.32 nm. The bond force is weak, so that the symmetry is shown along this direction {010}, and the crystal form extends along the direction of the chain in the structure, and is columnar parallel to the c-axis.

[Form] The single crystal is columnar or needle-shaped, and the cylinder has obvious longitudinal stripes (Fig. L-13). Larger crystals tend to show curvature. The aggregates are often radial or densely granulated (Figure L-14).

[Physical properties] steel gray or gray lead, surface often blue Qiang color; black streak; crystals often with dark blue Qiang color; metallic luster; opaque. Cleavage parallel {010} complete. The cleavage plane often has a horizontal polycrystalline double crystal grain. Hardness 2. The relative density is 4.6. Crisp.

[genesis and production] is mainly produced in low-temperature hydrothermal deposits, and is symbiotic with cinnabar, quartz , fluorite , barite and calcite .

China's Hunan Xinhua tin mine is the world's most famous and largest source of stibnite.

[Identification features] lead gray, columnar crystal form, longitudinal stripes on the cylinder surface (poly-grain), horizontal stripes on the cleavage surface (polycrystalline twin crystal). For the fine-grained block, the KOH is dropped thereon, and immediately appears yellow, and then turns into an orange-red color, thereby distinguishing it from a similar stibnite .

[Main use] It is an important ore mineral of bismuth. The crystals are large or beautiful and can be highly ornamental and collectible.

Saddle Fusion

What is saddle fusion? Saddle fusion (sidewall fuson) is, like butt fusion and socket fusion, another process based on hot plate welding. Saddle heat fusion differs from either socket, or butt fusion methods by performing fusion into the side of the pipe wall in a transverse orientation to the main pipe, rather than in line with the pipe. Hdpe saddle welding required workshop saddle fusion machines. This hdpe fusing process can be conducted while pressurized creating a [hot tap" when allowed by regulations and the pipeline owner. The pipe and saddle fitting surfaces are heated/fusing until they reach a proper temperature, the heating tool is removed and then the weld is formed. The process is complete following a cooling process. Always have a trained joining operator perform this procedure using properly maintained Pipe Fabrication Workshop Machines.
